The PPA faction is raising a strong voice against the current situation that citizens of Aruba both locals and newcomers who contribute to the economy are facing. The central question being asked is:
“Who is responsible for the lack of adequate service?”
Crisis at the Censo Department
According to the leader of the PPA faction, Eduard Pieters, the situation at the Census Department is becoming unacceptable. They question how it is possible that, despite having a director who has consistently worked hard to upgrade the department, there are still so many problems in providing the public with the “five-star” service they deserve.
“Our people pay a lot of taxes and they have the right to trust our departments. We will not accept another week passing without the Government fixing this situation,” Eduard Pieters stated.
The faction is making an urgent appeal to the Government to work more closely together, with a clear long-term vision, to prevent these types of problems from continuing to occur.
Problems with license plates
Beyond the Censo Department, the situation at the Tax Department is also causing significant frustration. Citizens are struggling greatly to obtain license plates for their vehicles.
- Lost investment: Many people have purchased new cars, but the vehicles remain parked in garages because license plates are not available.
- Additional expenses: Individuals who have already paid for their insurance and vehicles must spend extra money on transportation because they cannot legally use their own vehicles.
A call to action
The PPA considers this situation to be “unacceptable and unbelievable” for the year 2026 in which we are living. They are asking the Government not simply to add more desks or more personnel, but to present a sustainable solution aligned with the vision that Aruba needs.
“Government must have vision. When you have a vision, you break it down into short- and medium-term steps to achieve the overall goal for this country,” concluded PPA faction leader Eduard Pieters.
