On Friday, the Minister of Health, Social Affairs, Elderly Care and Addiction Management, Mrs. drs. Melvin Wyatt-Ras, together with various partners in the healthcare sector, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening a sustainable model for specialized medical care in Aruba. This marks a historic moment for the sector.
The MoU was signed together with key institutions within the specialized healthcare sector. These include the General Health Insurance Implementation Agency (AZV), Dr. Horacio E. Oduber Hospital (HOH), Instituto Medico San Nicolas (ImSan), the Aruba Medical Specialists Association (VMSA), the Aruba Hospital Specialists Association (ASHA), the Aruban Association of Employed Medical Specialists (AVSD), and ImSan’s Specialist Association Aruba (ISAA). This broad collaboration underscores the historical significance of the agreement.
With the signing of the MoU, the Ministry confirmed its leadership role and its commitment to supporting the implementation of the agreements, which focus on structural cooperation, mutual trust, and shared responsibility. The objective is to ensure a specialized healthcare system that is sustainable, transparent, and centered on patient well-being.
According to Minister Melvin Wyatt-Ras:
“This MoU demonstrates how collaboration and concrete commitment can contribute to a stronger specialized healthcare system for Aruba. It is an important step to ensure that care remains accessible, of high quality, and financially sustainable for our people.”
Through this agreement, the Government of Aruba reaffirms its commitment to continue working together with all healthcare partners to consolidate a solid foundation for specialized medical care, with a clear vision for the future and the needs of the population.
