Bonaire Government Has Fallen

Gobienro Di Boneiro

Since yesterday, a tense situation has dominated the political landscape on Bonaire. A member of the Island Council from the Demokrat faction, Salma Serberie, submitted her resignation letter and informed that she has left the faction. Until yesterday, the member had not given a clear indication as to whether she would withdraw her support from the Bonaire government.

However, during the day the situation continued to escalate. Today, shortly before noon, Salma Serberie also announced that she is withdrawing her support from the government. With this decision, the Bonaire government lost its majority and, as a result, has officially fallen.

At this moment, several political meetings are taking place on Bonaire, while the parties involved are deliberating on the next steps in the political process. The Governor of Bonaire still needs to officially announce the fall of the current government.
