In the early morning hours of Monday, January 26, the Maritime Operational Center of the Coast Guard (MOC) received a call from a cargo ship in need of medical assistance. The vessel was sailing near Curaçao.
It concerned a crew member on board who had fallen ill. Fellow crew members found the person sleeping on the floor and in need of assistance.
MOC personnel contacted the CITRO doctor, who determined that the person needed to receive medical treatment at the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) as soon as possible.
The Coast Guard helicopter crew was immediately alerted and dispatched in the direction of the vessel in order to transport the patient to Hato (Curaçao). Ambulance personnel were present to transport the person so that medical treatment could be provided at the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC).
