Recently, in a social gathering filled with emotion and cultural pride,
Impact Hub Aruba served as the stage for the official launch of E Bahul di Clyde, the latest literary work by columnist, educator, and amateur historian Clyde Harms Jr.

In the company of a distinguished audience, the event celebrated a publication that compiles more than 100 articles Harms has written over the past 40 years for Aruba’s newspapers, capturing the history, culture, anecdotes, and emblematic stories of our island.

Harms honored his longtime friend and collaborator, Alberto Perret-Gentil, as the book’s godfather.
“Clyde taught me what social responsibility means, and I see him as my Aruban mentor… His dedication to serving others knows no limits.”

The book cover was lovingly and skillfully designed by Irene Peterson, while linguistic editing was carried out by Yorleny Oduber. The foreword, filled with emotional depth, was written by another close friend of Harms, also a local author, Benjamin Romero.

Among the distinctions of his extensive literary career, Harms has published well-known works such as Historia di Baseball di Aruba, Storianan di un Mucha di Lagoen, and Un Arubiano na Libia, among other titles that establish his unique voice in Aruban literature.

This publication is dedicated to Lilian Prince, in recognition of her many years of humanitarian work and her example as a citizen. Her commitment as director of the Koningin Wilhelmina Fonds and her devotion to Aruba’s well-being have been recognized with the distinction of Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau.

Present at the ceremony were former Prime Minister Mike Eman and his wife Doina, Mrs. Milagro Harms, Clyde’s spouse, Alberto Perret-Gentil, Mrs. Joyce Pereira from Fundación Lanta Papiamento, and many guests who came to celebrate the author and his cultural legacy.

E Bahul di Clyde is available for purchase, and as with his previous books, Clyde Harms donates all sales proceeds to the Koningin Wilhelmina Cancer Fund, reaffirming his tireless commitment to serving the Aruban community. It is an excellent collector’s piece and a perfect holiday gift.
