The Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport has completed the second week of its Conflict Resolution Training (CRT) pilot, expanding the program to include first-year high school students and their parents. The initiative, managed by the Division for Educational Innovation (DEI), aims to strengthen schools’ capacity to address conflict and support youth well-being by introducing shared tools, language, and practices across school communities.
The program responds to a documented increase in adolescent aggression, bullying, intimidation, and emotional dysregulation, as reported by UNICEF. Through the CRT, practical lessons provide teachers, students, and families with tools to create safe learning environments and foster a culture of peace within schools.
During Week Two, the focus shifted to students and their parents, with interactive sessions designed to strengthen self-regulation and communication skills. Parents also participated in a dedicated session, exploring factors influencing adolescent behavior and learning ways to reinforce positive communication at home.
The pilot will continue in 2026, with ongoing collaboration between schools and families to increase shared responsibility for youth well-being. Ms. Oralie Boirard, Manager of DEI, expressed appreciation for the strong participation of parents, including fathers and grandparents, in the interactive sessions. She described the event as a moment of success.
