On Tuesday morning, an emergency situation took place in the building where the Department of Integration, Management and Admission of Foreigners (DIMAS) and the Department of Labor are located, after an employee of the Department of Labor began to feel unwell, apparently due to a possible gas contamination.
Shortly after, several other employees of the Department of Labor presented similar symptoms. Some individuals were transported by ambulance to the hospital for additional medical evaluation, while others chose to go to the hospital using their own transportation to get checked.
Following the initial call, the Police, Ambulance, and Fire Department arrived at the scene and conducted an extensive evaluation of the situation to exclude any potential risk to the staff and the public present in and around the building.
After the evaluation, the Fire Department made the decision to evacuate the entire building for the remainder of Tuesday, to give the competent authorities the opportunity to continue their investigation and inspect the building to determine if there is any presence of a potential risk.
As a result, DIMAS remained closed for the rest of Tuesday, June 15, 2026. The intention is to resume normal operations on Thursday, June 16, 2026, provided that the competent authorities confirm the building is safe for use.
Regarding clients who had appointments for Tuesday afternoon, DIMAS will contact them to reschedule the appointments for this coming Friday.
