In 2015, the Council of Advice had already advised that the LAFT law was unconstitutional

Aruba is currently dealing with a Kingdom Law that originated in 2015, when the AVP government led by current Prime Minister Mike Eman was in power. However, at that time the Council of Advice had already issued a clear and firm opinion regarding the LAFT section of that law. Despite this, the AVP government and its parliamentarians chose to act differently and went against the recommendations of the Council of Advice.

As the advice must now be revisited, Member of Parliament Rocco Tjon points out that on June 24, 2015, the Council of Advice issued a strong and explicit advisory opinion.
