Lizette Winterdal was born on April 12, 1979, in Aruba and grew up in San Nicolas. Her native languages are English and Papiamento. Lizette comes from a family of 7 sisters and is the youngest sibling. Alongside her job, she attended evening HAVO in San Nicolas and successfully obtained her HAVO diploma. Lizette’s dream is to become a teacher, and today she studies at the Pedagogical Institute of Aruba (IPA). Lizette made the decision to change her field of study; her current studies are for a Bachelor in Dutch as a Foreign Language (Bachelor Nederlands als Vreemde Taal). She enjoys music and dancing. Her hobbies are writing stories, poetry, and rhymes. She says that reading a book is like getting a free ticket to visit beautiful places and meet new characters.
Lizette has 4 children: 1 son, Brandon, and three daughters, Crystal, April, and Gili. This is the second time Lizette is participating in the Children’s Book Festival, and she is happy to be able to tell stories to the children. Reading makes us happy.
