Recently, the Minister of Justice, Mr. Arthur Dowers, responsible for foreign admission policy, received the report containing the results of the investigation conducted at the DIMAS building, following the situation that arose a few weeks ago regarding odors and the possible presence of mold.
The investigation was initiated after several employees fell ill on the same day during working hours after detecting a strong gas odor. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation and to guarantee the well-being and safety of both DIMAS employees and clients, authorities decided to evacuate the building immediately, pending a broader investigation.
During the following days, the Department of Public Health and the company PURE Indoor Air Quality Solutions conducted various tests and inspections on all floors of the building. Among other things, samples were taken to determine the possible presence of mold, air quality was measured, and a technical inspection of the central air conditioning system was carried out.
The report delivered to Minister Dowers indicates that the results of the investigation fall within normal standards. This means that, based on the results, there is no indication of a situation that poses a risk to the employees working in the building or to the clients visiting DIMAS.
Minister Dowers indicated that the result is important to provide both the staff and the public with the necessary peace of mind. At the same time, the minister emphasized that the recommendations included in the report will receive the necessary attention.
The report includes some recommendations to improve ventilation and air circulation within the building. Minister Dowers indicated that these require attention, especially considering that several Government buildings have systems that have been in use for many years and must gradually be upgraded to more modern and efficient systems.
