Otmar Oduber expressed his sincere gratitude to Minister Wendrick Cecilia and former Prime Minister Mike Eman for their contribution to the restoration of a special monument dedicated to the memory of all fishermen who lost their lives and in honor of their families.
The monument, which symbolizes remembrance, respect, and solidarity, recognizes the sacrifice of the fishermen and the pain their families have endured over the years. According to Oduber, the restoration is not only a physical improvement of the monument but also an act of recognition and appreciation for a sector that forms an essential part of Aruba’s history and culture.
Oduber highlighted that, thanks to the collaboration between the government and previous leadership, the monument can continue to serve as a place of reflection and tribute for the community. He emphasized the importance for Aruba to continue honoring those who contributed to the well-being of the island, even after their passing.
The restoration of the monument represents a significant step in preserving collective memory and strengthening the connection between Aruba’s past, present, and future.
