Public Sector demands clarity over unequal salary increase “letter sent to union”

Members of the public workforce are demanding clarity from the unions regarding the recent salary increases, which, according to them, were implemented only for officials at scale 13 and above. This situation is causing concern at all levels of public departments, creating a sense of inequality and discrimination in the public sector and in their daily tasks.

According to a letter sent to representatives of TOPA and other unions, many officials working in lower scales were not included in the recent adjustment.
“These workers take on great responsibility every day, often in roles critical to the implementation and sustainability of public services, but they have not benefited from the increase. This raises questions about equality and fairness,” the letter states.

Members are demanding clarity on the following points:

  • On what basis was the decision made to increase only the salaries of higher scales?
  • Are you actively defending officials in the lower scales?
  • What steps are being taken to guarantee equal treatment and recognition for all officials?

According to the letter, when only one group benefits, it can cause division, demotivation, and feelings of discrimination among workers who continue to contribute hard to the community.

Members of different unions are seeking a response that shows interest, clarity, and concrete steps toward a solution that is fair and inclusive for all members of the public sector.
