Suspect once again without a lawyer: Fatal Renaissance accident case postponed

Chania Fernandes Pedra Ta Keda Sera

Today, the criminal trial against suspect C.C.F.P. was scheduled to take place. The suspect is being prosecuted for manslaughter and attempted manslaughter in connection with a traffic accident on January 4, 2026. The suspect is accused of causing a crash on the Renaissance bridge in which two people lost their lives.

This marks the fourth time the case has come before the judge, but once again it could not proceed. The suspect appeared today with his lawyer—an experienced criminal defense attorney from Curaçao appointed by court order. However, inside the courtroom, the suspect stated that he did not want this attorney’s assistance, leaving him once more without legal representation.

The judge has set a new date for the hearing: November 4 at 1:30 PM. The suspect remains in pre-trial detention.
