A Historic Milestone for the Athletes’ Commission of the Aruban Olympic Committee
After a long period of preparation and planning, the Athletes’ Commission of Aruba (AAC), together with the Aruban Olympic Committee (COA), organized for the very first time in Aruba’s history an Athletes’ Forum, with the participation of around 50 athletes. The forum featured a varied and dynamic program covering different topics that were not only interesting but also essential for the development of athletes as young professionals in different fields—skills that will serve them both during their sports careers and later in their professional lives.
To open the forum, the President of the COA, Wanda Broeksema, shared words of praise for the Athletes’ Commission, highlighting their initiative in organizing a historic event that will certainly have lasting value. She also addressed the athletes present, representing about 10 different sports, congratulating them for being part of such an important milestone and for showing the willingness to learn more and grow as athletes and as individuals.
The Minister of Sport, Ms. Gerlien Croes, also shared a message with the participants, expressing her delight in seeing the strong motivation of the athletes to take part in such an educational event. She emphasized that this experience helps elevate them not only as athletes, but also as ambassadors of the sporting community and role models for all athletes in Aruba. Minister Croes concluded by wishing all athletes success in their sporting journey.
The Aruban Olympic Committee congratulates the Athletes’ Commission of Aruba on the successful organization of the first Athletes’ Forum in Aruba. This event demonstrates that local athletes are eager for more opportunities to learn new things and confirms the importance of having a national platform where athletes and sports can come together and share experiences across the island.
