Director of Forestry Srta. Stella Funsani Gama today, May 8, 2023, addressed the 18th Session of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF 18) at UN Headquarters in New York, USA. Stop. Gama underlined the reaffirmation of Malawi’s commitment to continue promoting sustainable forest management through the implementation of various initiatives to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and the global forest agenda through rehabilitation of degraded and deforested forest land, forest protection through the implementation of the National Forest Landscape Restoration Strategy, National Carbon Strategy, REDD+ Strategy and Malawi 2063 Vision and existing projects, programmes and initiatives. The UNFF is an intergovernmental policy forum that promotes the management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests and strengthens long-term partnerships towards this goal. Malawi is a signatory of the forum and has actively participated in UNFF meetings and working sessions.
