Joselien Croes is chairman of the national commission of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). September 25th is a very important day for the world and for Aruba as well where 8 years ago the goals for sustainable development were adopted by most of the countries in the United Nations.

This was done with the goal of creating a better world for all. According to Joselien Croes this is to create a better quality of life for all and also to ensure a more equal world. This means that we will look at different aspects of Aruba’s development that are not just about economic development, but also if it is balancing with the social aspects, environmental aspects, and having strong institutions.

According to Joselien Croes, this is an agenda of hope to create a better future for all. What’s also beautiful is that the goals have indicators that everyone can work with and it’s not just something that the government alone should do his part, but also for organizations run by NGOs, but also in the private sectors. If we take a close look at this, if all people are to be directed in the same direction great things can be accomplished for the country.

According to Joselien Croes, Chair of the Global Goals for Sustainable Development, what is most important is the agenda to achieve a change in the way we think about how we live on this planet. People need to be more aware of how we care for our environment, what we ourselves do to not throw away waste, but also how we treat each other, so the social part where we should create an agenda of equality.

There is also an important aspect to focus on to end poverty, end hunger to have a better level of development, to have more gender equality and also to have a better infrastructure in a country and to be more sustainable.

Another aspect that is also very important is for Aruba to have a better quality of life under the sea because that’s our beach, but also a better quality on land. Everything we have on earth is also influenced by our sea and vice versa.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda is a beautiful agenda and it’s a global one that we can all pull together and put our heads in the same direction for a better world. Currently there is a lot of activity going on. The United Nations itself will hold a SDG Summit on September 18 and 19 in New York to commemorate its eight years of work, but also to look at the gaps in its proposed goals for a better world.

However, we must be honest with ourselves that most people in the world are still unaware of the consequences of how the world is going, and yet this is a reality. It’s unfortunate that human beings only stop when something happens, for example when there are hurricanes or where there are floods, but according to the President of the Global Goals for Sustainable Development Joselien Croes we know that the sea level is rising, our climate is getting warmer and this is the impact on everything and on our lives.

The human being doesn’t sit back and think about what these developments mean to you as a human being on this planet. We need to keep paying attention to these points and make the community more aware of these parts and for the human being himself to start doing his part so that we can have a better world to live in considering all the natural developments that are taking place.
