Lawrence Tuck, the recently appointed General Manager of the Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino, embarked on an exciting adventure during his second week on the job. He received a special invitation to join his department heads for a memorable onboarding experience—an immersive Bon Bini Island Tour.

Departing the resort in the morning, the team made their initial stop at the Alto Vista church. Here, they were treated to a brief but impactful presentation that emphasized the profound emotional and spiritual significance of this sacred location. Moving forward, they proceeded to the awe-inspiring AYO rock formation, a monumental site of Amerindian archaeology. It offered them a captivating glimpse into the authentic history and ancient rituals of Aruba’s early Indian inhabitants. The visit was expertly guided by Harold Kelly, a local authority on the subject, who shared enthralling insights and information with the team, enriching their experience further.

At Centro di Pesca, Spanish Lagoon, the team made a rewarding stop, engaging in friendly conversations with local fishermen and admiring the bountiful local catch—a cherished culinary delight served daily at the resort. Continuing their journey, they visited the picturesque St. Nicolas, first relishing a delightful experience at Mangel Halto, a renowned local beach destination where they dipped their toes in the sand. Later, they gathered for a community lunch at Café Kulture, nestled within the historic Nicolas Store, a charming eatery that holds the legacy of a monumental structure constructed in 1940, gracing the town’s main street.

During their journey, the team gained valuable knowledge about the island’s history, culture, and traditions, immersing themselves deeply in its essence—an experience far beyond what a textbook in a classroom could provide. Moreover, they cherished delightful moments spent together, forging genuine connections with their colleagues. As they traveled, team members openly shared intriguing anecdotes about their family heritage and roots, leaving Mr. Tuck in awe of the profound and astonishing stories he encountered.

Nicol Hart, a dedicated social worker from Amalurra who offers her services to the resort, derived with the brilliant idea of organizing and designing the onboarding experience. Recognizing the importance of facilitating the new General Manager’s transition into his new surroundings, she believed that an island tour in the company of well-informed individuals would greatly contribute to his adjustment.
