Last week Rangers from Carmabi’s Curaçao Rif Mangrove Park visited Mangrove Park. We went out to some outplanting sites in the southwest and they also joined the regular work, like opening channels and planting red and black mangroves in our nurseries.
The Rif Mangrove Park on Curacao is quite new. It is a result of a huge restoration operation as the mangroves in that area, almost downtown Willemstad, were in a very bad shape. Every site is different so the Maniacs also learned from them. The park in Curacao for instance has to deal with calamities with wastewater from the sewage system. This has a serious impact on the water quality there.
