Recently, a U.S. delegation visited Aruba’s Prime Minister, Mike Eman, for the signing of the new Preclearance agreement with Aruba.
Dylan DeFrancisci, Port Director at Miami International Airport, stated that it was a pleasure to visit Aruba once again and to be part of such a monumental moment for both countries. He noted that this agreement has been in the making for quite some time.
DeFrancisci expressed his satisfaction at being present for the signing, as he served as Director of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) from 2008 to 2012, during the period when the initial discussions that led to this agreement first began.
He emphasized the importance of this agreement for both nations, highlighting the strong cooperation that has existed throughout the years and continues to this day — cooperation that culminated in this historic signing. DeFrancisci also recognized Aruba’s significant progress and innovation, the expansion of the airport, and the island’s continued success.
Also present at the Government Office was Diane J. Sabatino, Executive Assistant Commissioner of the Office of Field Operations (OFO) at CBP. She expressed that it was, as always, an absolute pleasure to visit Aruba, and she praised the tremendous alliance between the United States and Aruba — particularly with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, with whom Aruba shares a deep and longstanding relationship.
Sabatino highlighted the strong cooperative relationship that dates back to 1987 and to the establishment of Preclearance in 1996. With this new signing, she said, both sides reaffirm their shared values and their mutual commitment to strengthening border security, enhancing economic prosperity for both nations, and ensuring safe travel to and from Aruba.
