Strength for the family: The value of prayer

Fortaleza Pa Famia 3

We must always draw near to the Lord, for He is sovereign and we all depend on Him.

Prayer has power: prayer brings healing, deliverance, and drives out evil — when we place our faith in God. Therefore, prayer must be done with faith, knowing that God is able to do everything we ask of Him.

If a person does not believe that what he asks can happen, he prays in vain, because he doubts that God can do it. And God does not want us to doubt, because doubt shows distrust — and where there is distrust, there is no sincerity.

Prayer delivers us from temptation, as written in Matthew 26:41:
“Watch and pray, that you do not enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Jesus taught us how to pray, because He Himself prayed to His Father in heaven. Through this we receive spiritual strength, knowledge and power.

In Matthew 6:6 Jesus teaches us:
“But when you pray, go into your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”

Here we see how valuable our time in prayer is before God. The more sincere we are in prayer, the greater our blessing will be.

Today many people want to see big things happen, but they want to spend little time in prayer. Or they use the usual phrase: “God will know”, which means the effort is empty.

Nothing has more power on this earth than prayer. 2 Chronicles 7:14 teaches us that when we unite in prayer, God can do everything — as long as our hearts are humble, we confess our sins, and turn away from wicked ways.

Prayer frees people from the traps of the enemy, because the enemy cannot resist prayer. Prayer breaks all power of witchcraft and darkness, because prayer brings light into everything.

Prayer opens closed doors and shows God’s power, so everyone may know that God is near whenever we draw close to Him in prayer.

The Word of God says in 1 John 5:14–15:
“This is the confidence we have in Him: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, we know that we have what we asked of Him.”

In John 14:13–14 the Word says:
“Whatever you ask in My Name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My Name, I will do it.”

In Mark 11:24 it is written:
“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and they will be yours.”

All our prayers must be directed to the Father in the Name of the Son, for there is only one Mediator between God and man: Christ Jesus.

Now more than ever, our prayer must increase — at all times.
