Was the last day of operation for the Driver’s License (Rijbewijs) department at its old location in Santa Cruz. After a long weekend, the department will open its doors on Monday, May 18th, in the former Doc building located at Dominicanessenstraat 33 in Playa (Oranjestad).
Reason for the move
The decision to move was made after it was determined that the building in Santa Cruz was no longer in suitable condition for the KPA (Aruba Police Force) personnel to carry out their work. The Police Union (SPA) played an important role in bringing this situation to light, indicating that the environment was no longer healthy for the employees. In light of this, the Ministry of Justice, together with the Police Force, decided to temporarily centralize all services under one roof.

Police Spokesperson, Liliana Rasmijn, explained that this move involves all aspects of the department:
Theoretical and Practical Exams: Both types of exams will now be administered at the location in Playa.
Convenience for the user: While this is a solution for the staff, it also benefits citizens, who will no longer need to visit two different locations to complete their procedures.
Call for cooperation and patience
Given that the new location is in the city center where traffic is busier, the KPA is making a special appeal to the community:
Traffic in Playa: Motorists are asked to take into account the flow of traffic in the Dominicanessenstraat area.
Cooperation with examiners: A little extra patience and cooperation is requested when encountering exam cars (identified with the letter “L”) in Playa traffic.
