Primary school students in Bonaire can once again start preparing for a new edition of Fiesta di Salú. This year, all primary school students in Bonaire will get to enjoy the event that promotes the importance of health in a fun and accessible way. This year, GGD Bonaire / Public Health, the organizer of Fiesta di Salú, is placing special emphasis on education. Children will not only discover how healthy eating and exercise contribute to their well-being, but they will also learn more about how food grows and where healthy products come from.
Commissioner Silberie was also present at the official opening of this year’s Fiesta di Salú. The commissioner, alongside the students, participated in the festive kickoff of the event and emphasized the importance of focusing on a healthy lifestyle from a young age.
Fiesta di Salú was organized for the first time in Bonaire’s schools last year. The concept and the familiar games featuring the superheroes Zula Pampuna, Bita Banana, Wòti Walnoot, and Awasito are back again this year. The Bon Salú team helps children discover healthy options in a fun and relatable way. At the same time, the event includes several new elements, making the day another surprise-filled experience for children who participated last year.
A special highlight of this edition is the focus on pumpkins, linked to the superhero Zula Pampuna. Children learn how pumpkins grow, why they are healthy, and receive a plant to take home so they can apply what they have learned—connecting learning with hands-on activity. A new quiz station has also been added, where students can expand their health knowledge in a fun way. Furthermore, extra attention is paid to the benefits of drinking water at the infused water station, where students discover that water flavored with fruit can be not only healthy, but also surprisingly delicious.
The festive closing of Fiesta di Salú will take place on November 1st during Cyclovia. The entire Bonaire community is invited to experience the activities of Fiesta di Salú.
