A new political chapter for Bonaire: James Finies to officially launch Partido Pueblo Progresivo on September 6th

James Finies @ Un Ny

On September 6th, Bonaire Day (Dia di Boneiru), James Finies will officially launch Partido Pueblo Progresivo (PPP), presenting a new vision for Bonaire based on integrity, competent leadership, service, and putting the people of Bonaire first.

The launch of the PPP is more than just the introduction of another political party—it is by the people, for the people. It is the beginning of a movement dedicated to addressing the struggles and challenges that the common people of Bonaire face every day.

For decades, Bonaire has been governed by many of the same political figures under different party names. All current parties stem from the same group of recycled leaders. UPB originated from the Democratic Party, MPB originated from UPB, and more recent political formations like M21 and Nina Den Heyer’s new party also originated from MPB, while Partido Santana originated from PHU. This represents the recycling of the same political leadership, not true change. Although the same political leaders across all current parties have been given the opportunity over the past 15 to 20 years to govern, many citizens still face a rising cost of living, higher rents (hur) and housing, more expensive water and electricity bills, food getting costlier, and a growing level of poverty.

The people of Bonaire deserve more than promises every election. They deserve corruption-free leadership that delivers results, that is accountable, and that has a clear vision for the future.

Bonaire needs a different kind of leadership—leadership based on integrity, professional experience, good management, and proven financial knowledge. James Finies’s background in commercial banking, his continuous sacrifice and dedication to the social welfare of the people of Bonaire, his experience in structural management, his international network, and the trust he has earned from thousands of clients during his career in banking, NGOs, civil society, sports, and from the people of Bonaire, are strong points that can help create a stronger and more prosperous Bonaire.

The party will continue to defend Bonaire’s interests at the international level, including the path to place Bonaire on the United Nations List of Non-Self-Governing Territories, as part of its broader vision to protect the rights and future of the Bonairian people.

During the official launch, the PPP’s preliminary Manifesto will also be presented, outlining practical proposals to address Bonaire’s most urgent challenges, including: lowering the cost of living, affordable houses, housing, and rent, lowering the price of electricity and water, economic growth and job creation, better education and healthcare, protection of Bonaire’s culture, language, and identity, good governance, transparency and accountability, opportunities for youth and support for our seniors, sustainable economic growth that benefits the people of Bonaire, and many other important issues affecting the citizens of Bonaire.

This is a call to all citizens of Bonaire who believe that change is possible to join and unite with us in the movement focused on creating a better future.

Politics should be about serving the people—not maintaining power. If you believe Bonaire deserves better, deserves honest leadership, practical solutions, and a government that works for its people, then on September 6th, we the people, together, will start a new chapter in Bonaire’s history.

Bonaire’s future belongs to its people. The time for change is now.
