Last Tuesday, during the general assembly of the Aruban Olympic Committee (COA), the “Capacity Building Training” (CBT) Phase 2 project concluded, in which the COA member federations participated through training courses. In the case of CBT Phase 2, the project helped member federations develop a strategic plan and/or a strategic framework to elevate the level of sports management and long-term planning. This phase of the CBT involved several weeks of workshops led by professionals, requiring high-level planning, logistics, and execution.
Under the guidance of Development Director Patrick Werleman, Joey Francisco assisted as an intern from his “Bachelor of Arts in Organization, Governance and Management” (OGM) program. Joey is in the process of completing his studies at the University of Aruba and saw the internship as a practical opportunity to gain insight into how an international organization like the COA operates and manages its affairs.
Joey did an outstanding job supporting Patrick and the development department, organizing, preparing, and executing the CBT Phase 2 project, maintaining close communication with all member federations and other stakeholders, and ensuring the successful completion of all activities. During the COA general assembly, Joey was thanked for his excellent work, and the COA is proud to see that Aruba has a young professional with the capability to be part of any organization that requires dynamic and competent individuals.
