August 17th is a day that KPCN Boneiro will never forget

Today, August 17, 2023, KPCN mourned the loss of their beloved colleague, friend and agent, Ferry Bakx who lost his life in the line of duty. Chief of Police Alwyn Braaf and Chief of the Police Basic Care Department Edwin van der Giessen placed a wreath at the monument in front of the police station building, and together with other colleagues held a minute of silence and recorded their colleague. On 17 August 2016, Dutch police officer Rijsberg Ferry Bakx (45) was working on the island since 2013. He was working as a police officer when a group of Venezuelans committed a robbery at a vacation home. In the house where the Dutch Van Dijk family lived, Bakx followed the robbers when he was shot. He was shot in the back of the head and in the back and died. The robbers were caught and received 17 years in prison.
