On Monday afternoon around 2:40 PM, the Central Police Department received a report of a serious accident on the Warawara road in Santa Cruz.
Initial information indicated that a pick-up truck had overturned and the driver was trapped underneath the vehicle.
Police patrols, an ambulance, and the fire department were dispatched to the scene with maximum urgency.
Upon arrival, they found a silver Toyota Hilux with the driver pinned beneath it.
Officers managed to free the driver, and ambulance personnel provided immediate medical attention, but sadly, nothing could be done to save him.
Traffic specialists and technical police investigators were also present to carry out their investigation.
After some time, forensic doctor Dr. Voskuil arrived and confirmed the death of Eduardo Thiel, born in Aruba on December 29, 1970 (54 years old).
Tragically, this becomes the 10th traffic fatality this year.
The Police Corps extends its condolences to the family of the deceased.
We make an urgent plea to all drivers: December is the busiest month of the year, heavy activity means you must pay EXTRA attention. Follow traffic rules, drive safely, and do not drink. Together we can prevent tragedies and ensure a safe Christmas and New Year close to our families.
Safe roads for one and for EVERYONE!
