The importance of the medical aspect in athletes’ development and performance is well-recognized, and within this framework, a meeting was held with the “Huisartsen Vereniging Aruba” (HAVA—Aruba General Practitioners Association) to explore avenues of collaboration with the Aruban Olympic Committee (COA). HAVA recently introduced a new board and managed to sit down with two of its members, Dr. Marcel Ho-Kang-You and Dr. Melanie Ho-Kang-You.

HAVA sees the importance of contributing to the athletes’ well-being and is willing to assist wherever possible. The meeting explored the possibility of having doctors join the COA medical commission, as well as securing cooperation from physicians to accompany TEAMARU delegations participating in the upcoming Sports Games.

The COA is grateful for HAVA’s willingness to support the well-being of our athletes and will look to further develop this potential collaboration to elevate the standard of medical support in sports.
