Man Lost in the Wilderness in Bonaire

Kustwacht

The Maritime Operations Center (MOC) of the Coast Guard received a call regarding a case on Friday evening from the Caribbean Netherlands Police Force (KPCN). It concerned a Dutch man who had contacted the police because he had gotten lost while walking in the wilderness area of Bolivia in Bonaire.

Fortunately, the man had his phone with him and it was charged, which allowed him to call and inform the police of his location in the dark nighttime wilderness, which was densely filled with vegetation. He reported that he had run out of drinking water and that he was feeling very nervous.

After receiving the message from KPCN, the MOC dispatched a Coast Guard helicopter to Bonaire to assist the lost person. The police were also present in the area.

During the search, with the help of the police, the man was quickly located by the helicopter and transported to the airport. At the airport, the man was handed over to the police
