The book The Adventures of Kompa Nanzi is now available in four languages: Dutch, Papiamentu, English, and Papiamento. This special edition is based on the well-known stories of Nilda Pinto and has been rewritten by Elodie Heloise.
The book contains eight exciting and humorous stories about Kompa Nanzi – the clever spider from the African storytelling tradition. The tales have been retold and illustrated by Toon van Ham, combining humor, wisdom, and meaningful life lessons in a way that resonates with today’s children.
The Adventures of Kompa Nanzi is aimed at students in the final two years of primary school (groups 7 and 8) and the first two years of secondary education, making it suitable for children aged approximately 10 to 15.
With this book, the publisher hopes to encourage children to think and talk about values, norms, and their own moral compass – topics that remain important in every era.
During a festive moment, the first copy of the book was presented by Danielson Antoin and Emma Louise Pratt of the Fundashon Históriko Kultural Boneriano (FuHiKuBo) to Commissioner Peter Silberie.
