The opening of the 2026-2027 academic year at the Instituto Pedagogico Arubano (IPA) marks a new beginning for Aruba’s future educators. This academic year commences under the theme “Rediscovering Human Capacities in a Technological Era,” emphasizing the importance of rediscovering and strengthening our human capabilities in an increasingly technological world.
Despite technological developments, human potential, creativity, critical thinking, empathy, and the ability to connect with others remain essential in education. “Technology offers us extraordinary opportunities to innovate and transform education. However, we must never forget that the human being always remains at the heart of education. Our educators carry the vital responsibility to not only impart knowledge, but also to inspire, motivate, and shape our future generations. Technology must strengthen our human capacities, not replace them.”

Investing in educators is investing in Aruba’s future
With the opening of the new academic year, Minister Gerlien Croes reaffirms the importance of continuous learning, innovation, and ongoing professional development for educators. In a rapidly changing society, it is essential for our future teachers to be prepared to combine technological expertise with human and pedagogical skills.
