Pickup truck theft On Monday, August 3, a report was filed regarding the theft of a vehicle parked on Kaminda Sorobon near a hospitality establishment. The vehicle is a gray Toyota Hilux pickup truck with license plate V-179. The case is under investigation.
Car crashes into a utility pole On Sunday, August 2, at around 9:15 PM, the central police dispatch received a notification about an accident on Kaya Sirena. Upon police arrival, it appeared that a car carrying three occupants, including a baby, had crashed into a utility pole for reasons yet unknown. The vehicle sustained considerable material damage. Ambulance personnel arrived at the scene and transported the injured baby to the hospital for medical treatment. In accordance with the “crash and blow” (botsen is blazen) policy, a breathalyzer test was administered to the driver, but there was no indication of alcohol use. It turned out that the driver is a minor. They will receive a fine for failing to produce a driver’s license, for transporting a baby without a special child safety seat, and for driving without a seatbelt.

Arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol Over the past weekend, police detained four (4) drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol.
*On Sunday, August 2, around 9:10 PM, a 42-year-old man with initials R.R.G. was arrested on Kaya Grandi. The suspect had crashed his buggy into the back of a car. The driver’s documents were in order. In accordance with the botsen is blazen policy, a breathalyzer test indicated he had consumed more alcohol than legally permitted. At the police station, a breath analysis was conducted, and he received a 2-hour driving ban.

Fight ends in a stabbing case On Sunday, August 2, around 12:00 AM, the central dispatch received a notification about a stabbing near a bar on Kaya Korona. Investigation revealed that a short while earlier, a fight had taken place between two persons, after which an unknown individual stabbed the victim with a bladed weapon. Following the incident, the suspect left the scene. An ambulance transported the victim to the hospital for medical treatment. The case is under investigation.
Two arrests and firearm confiscated On Saturday, August 1, around 4:20 AM, two suspects were arrested for violating the BES Firearms Law (Lei di Arma di Kandela BES). The arrest followed a report shortly before regarding a suspicious car moving through Nikiboko. Upon police arrival, the vehicle was not found, but an electric bicycle (fatbike) was located on an open lot on Kaya Chogogo. Further inspection revealed the fatbike was registered as stolen. While police were at the location, a car matching the given description was spotted. The driver was signaled to stop for a check. A search of the vehicle yielded a firearm. Both occupants were arrested: the driver, a 24-year-old man with initials J.A.M., and the passenger, a 36-year-old man with initials J.C.L.M. The firearm, two bladed weapons, a balaclava (bivakmùts), the car, and the fatbike were confiscated for further investigation.
Arrest for destruction and assault On Friday, July 31, at around 10:55 PM, a 27-year-old woman with initials J.J.O. was arrested on Kaya Elvira for destruction and assaulting an on-duty officer. Her arrest followed an incident on Thursday, July 30, where she entered a hospitality establishment in the center area (centrumgebied) with her face covered, destroyed a display case, and fled. During her arrest, the suspect violently resisted and assaulted a police officer. Presumed narcotic substances and other relevant items for the investigation were also confiscated.
Planned traffic control In the early evening hours of Friday, July 31, the Caribbean Netherlands Police Force (KPCN), in cooperation with Customs (Duana), held a planned traffic control on Kaya Amsterdam and Kaya Neerlandia. The goal was to inspect vehicles for the transport of prohibited items. During this control, ten (10) vehicles were stopped and checked, resulting in the confiscation of two knives, a machete, and a small quantity of suspected narcotic substances.
