The continuous growth and evolution of the Youth Parliament are a source of great joy and satisfaction for the President of the Parliament of Aruba, Marlon Sneek. During the opening of the new youth parliamentary year, Sneek highlighted the spirit of service among the youth who seek to contribute positively to their country.
Sneek underscored how the organization has continued to expand its reach. For those who have reached 18 years of age, a new structure has been created to function as an advisory council, where older youth can continue to guide and assist new members joining the program:
Fresh mindset and cooperation: Unlike traditional politics, which often focuses on party colors, the youth contribute with a fresh mindset and without prejudice, enabling freer debate, greater cooperation, and the generation of better ideas for the country.
Addressing community topics: The youth debate issues of major social impact, such as our nature, the protection of our beaches, and the well-being of our senior citizens, educating themselves through workshops to later share this knowledge with the community.
A Training for Life
The President of Parliament emphasized that the Youth Parliament is not solely for those interested in pursuing a career in politics, but rather a platform that develops the individual as a whole:
Personal and professional development: The knowledge, communication skills, and leadership qualities young people acquire will serve them forever in their personal and professional lives.
Impact across all sectors: Whether these young people become teachers, bank employees, organization leaders, or simply parents in the future, this experience will provide them with the tools to guide future generations and contribute meaningfully to society.
