The leader of the AVP faction, Jennifer Arends-Reyes, stated after the meeting regarding the 2019 annual accounts that during that same meeting there was also a motion to stop the amendment to the LNT, an amendment intended to allow approval for the AAA CEO, who comes from Royal Schiphol Aruba, to earn 1.1 million.
Faction leader Jennifer Reyes explained that in principle the AVP faction found the motion acceptable, since the AVP has always been against the LNT, but this time the faction felt the motion was not in line with the AVP. The truth is that the LNT law was imposed on Aruba by the Dutch government itself to reduce government spending. And now the key question is whether it is the Dutch government that has given approval to proceed with this change in the same manner as when they required Aruba during the pandemic to cut expenses and introduce the LNT for all Aruban CEOs in Aruba or whether there is direct pressure from the Royal Schiphol Group on the Aruban government, and the Aruban government is yielding to these kinds of demands.
