As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the various institutions responsible for Aruba’s security, a training program for Special Investigating Officers (Buitengewoon Opsporingsambtenaar – BOA) officially commenced on Monday afternoon. A total of thirteen customs officers and one investigator from the National Criminal Investigation Department (Landsrecherche) began the training, which will last approximately six to seven months.
The Minister of Justice, Integration, Public Transport, and Energy, Mr. Dr. Arthur Dowers, considers this training an important step in the process of professionalizing and strengthening the operational capacity of institutions that play an essential role in law enforcement and the protection of our rule of law.
The BOA training focuses on preparing professionals who, in the execution of their duties, must possess the necessary legal knowledge, practical skills, and preparation to carry out investigative tasks within the framework of their legal competence.
Strengthening security is not limited solely to expanding personnel or acquiring work materials, but also involves continuous training and professional development for those who are daily tasked with law enforcement.
The government must ensure that professionals in our institutions have the necessary preparation and tools to perform their jobs. Training is not an expense, but a direct investment in the quality, integrity, and effectiveness of these institutions.
Over the coming months, the 14 participants will dedicate themselves to the training process, with the goal of acquiring the knowledge and competencies needed to qualify as BOAs.
Minister Dowers congratulates the participants on this important step in their professional development and wishes them great success during the training.
