Olympic athletes from Aruba have received their official “OLY” pin and certificate.
Yesterday evening, during the prestigious event “Premio Excelencia den Deporte 2024”, which celebrated athletes who excelled in 2024, a special moment was dedicated to our Olympic athletes. During this moment, athletes who participated in the Olympic Games were honored.
As a special recognition, each athlete received a certificate and a pin with the letters “OLY”, an internationally recognized post-nominal title similar to PhD, MSc, BSc, etc. Olympians can use this title after their name to acknowledge their years of hard work in sports and their contribution to Olympic values.
The “OLY” pin and certificate are awarded by the World Olympians Association (WOA), a global organization that empowers Olympians during and after their sporting careers, and works closely with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in service of all Olympic athletes. The Aruban Association of Olympic Athletes (AAAO) is the local organization managing communication with the WOA to make this possible.
Olympic athletes who received their recognition this year:
• Ethan Westera – Paris 2024
• Shanayah Howell – Paris 2024
• Chloë Farro – Paris 2024
• Elliot Loonstra – Paralympic Games Paris 2024
• Mikel Schreuders – Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, and Paris 2024
Here, the athletes or a representative can be seen receiving the recognition. The Aruban Olympic Committee congratulates all Olympic athletes on their well-deserved recognition.
Once an Olympian, always an Olympian.
