Henco Cecilia from the ChristenUnie attended the event to share his party’s ideology and discuss the topics that concern Aruban and Caribbean students (from the BES and CAS islands) living in the Netherlands. According to Cecilia, the students were well-prepared and asked very sharp and thoughtful questions.
He expressed his hope that Caribbean students living in the Netherlands who have the right to vote will make use of that right.
Cecilia noted that during the “Politiek Café” it became clear that the politicians present generally shared similar opinions and a common direction.
“That’s important,” he said, “because if any of these politicians one day take on a higher position, their impact will be even greater.”
He reaffirmed his strong belief in the importance of working together and finding common ground.
As a message to all students, Cecilia encouraged them to continue investing in themselves:
“Education is important, and having a goal ahead of you helps you grow and move forward in life. Where you are now doesn’t define who you are, and it doesn’t determine where you’ll stay. If you keep growing, you can bring value to your country, to yourself, and to those around you.”
