all 9 member clubs of the General Assembly of the Aruba Volleyball Association (AVA) united to convene and participate in an Extraordinary General Assembly, with the goal of creating clarity, continuity, and a responsible path forward for the future of volleyball in Aruba. The nine members of the General Assembly are: Pickleball Association, Y.M.C.A., Comision Pro Basketball, S.V. La Fama, S.V. Velocidad, S.V. Unistars, Centro di Bario Noord, Synergy Volleyball Aruba, and S.V. Britannia.
The meeting was professionally moderated by Ms. Sorayda Boekhoudt, President of the Aruba Sports Union (Aruba Sport Unie – ASU), the parent organization of AVA, and was attended by Ms. Nicole Hoevertsz, General Secretary of the Aruban Olympic Committee (COA), along with Mr. Jonathan Wever, serving as observers in light of AVA’s relations with the international governing body FIVB, and regional bodies NORCECA and CAZOVA.
In a constructive, respectful, and solution-oriented atmosphere, members discussed the current situation, the organization’s continuity, and the necessary steps to restore and strengthen AVA’s structure. Throughout the meeting, emphasis was placed on good governance, integrity, transparency, open communication, accountability, and cooperation between all members and the board.
As a result, the General Assembly agreed to establish an interim board formed by various committees, which will work together to address all pending matters, guarantee the continuity of AVA’s operations, and put all necessary conditions in place to hold democratic elections before the end of January 2027.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment from the members of the General Assembly and the AVA federation to work in the best interest of our youth, our athletes, and the sport of volleyball. Through dialogue, integrity, and cooperation, the General Assembly took an important step toward a stronger, more transparent AVA, fully prepared to serve the next generation.
