The leader of the AVP faction referred to the Administrative Agreement and the deadline established for the introduction of the law. AVP faction leader Jennifer Arends-Reyes indicated that, considering the current concerns about the Rijkswet HOFA that is on the table, it is important to reflect on whether in the past the process of other kingdom laws that were signed was also questioned.
According to Arends-Reyes, there is an Administrative Agreement between Aruba and the Netherlands in which clear arrangements were established that the Rijkswet HOFA must be introduced before May 1. She emphasized that this agreement forms part of the institutional commitment that the government assumed in dialogue with the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The AVP faction leader acknowledged that the unions have once again presented their position and concerns in Parliament, which according to her is an important step in the democratic process. However, she emphasized that for the AVP faction it is essential that the unions keep the channel of communication open with the government.
According to Arends-Reyes, the main point is that continuous dialogue between unions and the government is fundamental to addressing existing concerns and to seeking solutions in the interest of the country. She stressed that cooperation and constructive communication will help strengthen trust between the different actors involved in the process.
The statement by the AVP faction leader forms part of the broader debate about the future of financial supervision, national autonomy, and the institutional relationship between Aruba and the Netherlands.
