Last Friday night, in front of Fort Zoutman, the historical heart of our capital, Aruba celebrated a cultural event of great significance: the Monumental Caha di Orgel Festival.
A total of ten caha di orgel (traditional barrel organs) participated in the festival, each representing a unique part of our musical heritage.
The sound of the organs filled the night with joy, rhythm, and national pride, creating an atmosphere of unity and harmony between the present and the island’s rich cultural past.
The event was attended by Prime Minister Mike Eman, who expressed his appreciation for the musicians and craftsmen dedicated to preserving the tradition of the caha di orgel.
“The caha di orgel is a living symbol of our cultural identity. Preserving this tradition is essential to strengthening our sense of community and national pride,”
the Prime Minister stated.
Minister Cicilia was also present at the celebration.
In addition to the musical performances, the festival offered a wide variety of typical Aruban food, and entrance was completely free, allowing everyone to take part in this cultural celebration.
The Monumental Caha di Orgel Festival served as a tribute to our cultural heritage and as a reminder of the importance of preserving our music and traditions for future generations.
At the end of the evening, Ministers Eman and Cicilia received a handcrafted gift as a token of appreciation.
