Mp Mike de Meza: “When you tamper with autonomy, you cross a line — I am against the Kingdom Law HOFA”

Mike De Meza 1

The Kingdom Law HOFA is a consensus law that Aruba must ultimately vote on to either agree or disagree. However, the law will also pass through the Dutch House of Representatives (Tweede Kamer), where Aruba has no voting rights, even though the law directly affects the island.
According to Mike de Meza, now is the time for Aruba to clearly express whether it is for or against the law. He emphasized that members of parliament represent the people of Aruba, and when autonomy is at stake, the people must be consulted.
De Meza stated that once you interfere with Aruba’s autonomy without involving the people, you have crossed a line.
