The Aruba Police Force informs that after an intensive investigation carried out by the Robbery Team (T.B.P.), they managed to arrest a suspect who was living in the district of San Nicolas and who is linked to several robberies with a bladed weapon during the months of March and April 2026.
During the mentioned months, a series of incidents were recorded in the San Nicolas area where the suspect used a bladed weapon (knife/dagger) to intimidate his victims.
The following cases are involved:
March 2, 2026:
Robbery of a student near the National Library on Peter Stuyvestraat.
The student was waiting for their parents and was robbed, during which the suspect placed a knife to the victim’s throat and left with the victim’s cellphone and money.
March 19, 2026:
Robbery of an employee of MFA San Nicolas in the parking lot of Plaza Lolita.
The suspect placed a knife to the victim’s throat and left with the victim’s cellphone, jewelry, and money.
April 3, 2026:
Robbery of tourists who were admiring murals in the city center.
The suspect pulled out a knife toward the tourists and left with money and personal documents.
April 9, 2026:
Robbery of a woman together with her child after leaving the cinema.
The suspect displayed a knife and left with money.
Based on the description of the suspect and the modus operandi, the Robbery Team was able to identify the person responsible for all these robberies.
After a thorough investigation, on April 11, 2026, the Robbery Team arrested the suspect.
The suspect is a man with initials H.S.L.B., born in Colombia, 20 years old, and illegally present on the island.
During a judicial search at a property on Theaterstraat, police were able to locate and confiscate sufficient evidence linking him to the mentioned robberies.
It is important to note that during the interrogation process, the suspect admitted guilt in all these cases.
