In 2018, the Advisory Council also issued an opinion on the LAFT, at a time when the MEP was in power. According to parliamentarian Rocco Tjon, Mike Eman claimed that in 2018 changes were introduced that removed certain rights from the Netherlands, including financial supervision over Aruba. According to parliamentarian Tjon, this is not accurate, because the changes made at that time were not intended to remove any authority or the government’s ability to intervene. Parliamentarian Rocco Tjon explains this further.
