The Ateliers’s 89 recently organized the 12th workshop titled “Black & White: The Impact of Contrast,” a creative initiative focused on black-and-white photography. Participants of the workshop worked on their own photographic projects, which were ultimately presented in an exhibition open to the community.
The exhibition showcases the results of the artistic process the participants went through during the workshop, where they explored the use of contrast, composition, and visual expression in black-and-white photography. The works received appreciation from visitors, who had the opportunity to admire the level of creativity and technical skill achieved.
The workshop was guided by Alexis Tromp, a recognized visual artist, who shared his knowledge and experience with the group. According to Tromp, the process of creating black-and-white photography requires a different way of observing light, form, and emotion something the workshop focused on intensively.
The initiative was organized by Ateliers 89 and the National Library and forms part of the National Library’s ongoing efforts to promote art, cultural education, and community participation in Aruba.
