The Youth Parliament successfully organized the Control Alt Lead Camp event. This initiative is aimed at young people in Aruba who have the desire to develop their leadership skills and put them into practice.
The idea behind the camp is to give young people the opportunity to disconnect for a while from their daily routine, such as their studies, and take them to a different environment. The program began with two and a half weeks of a work environment, followed by three weeks where the youth voice was shared on various topics of interest to awaken the leader within them. The first week’s theme was “The Leader in Me,” the second week focused on “Nature,” and the third week addressed “The Voice of Youth.”
The name “Control Alt Lead” is inspired by the computer keyboard shortcut (Control + Alt + Delete). The goal is for a young person to “shut down” the old control, activate a new control, and send the command to make space for a new leader to guide the way.
Milvienne Dijkhoff is very pleased that a group of approximately 50 youth participated in this project, enabling the Youth Parliament to create more leaders in our community.
The Youth Parliament has been in existence for 23 years, and the goal behind this camp is to prepare the next generation of leaders, stimulate critical thinking, and shape young people to make decisions that will bring a positive impact to the future of our country.
