Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes announces the Aruba community, which will open the maritime border with Venezuela on May 1, 2023. The Prime Minister indicated that the conditions are met and the necessary documentation has been received. He

Conditions are very strict and all relevant departments are ready to deal with the reopening of the maritime border.

 

With this, ships can come from Venezuela according to the word procedure. Local authorities will have all necessary information about the Venezuelan shipment. With this information, the authorities will know who is coming, which ship is coming, and what products will be brought to Aruba. The crew will hold the Barcadera and not be allowed to leave the harbor. In the past, the crew members were allowed to enter and sell their products, but under the new conditions this is not possible. They come under the responsibility of a steward who will take care of them, and they are safe for sales. They are allowed to stay for a maximum of two days before heading back to Venezuela.

“I hope that this decision to open the maritime border will help to provide much-needed relief to the people of Aruba. The Government will continue with the processes regarding the air border and will keep the community informed of all developments in this regard”, the Prime Minister said.
