“It hurts deeply, but we must remain calm and allow the investigation to take its course.”
“Yesterday, a regrettable incident took place. My colleagues were involved in a shooting incident in which, unfortunately, a person lost their life in Pos Abao.
It was a difficult situation in which both parties were negatively affected.
For a parent and a family to suddenly lose a child is indescribable and extremely painful.
At no point do my colleagues leave their homes to go to work with the intention of finding themselves in a situation like this. None of us want a situation to end in this way.
I share in the pain of our community, just as my colleagues do, who are still in shock because of the incident in question.
As Police Commissioner, it causes me great sorrow that we are involved in a situation like this, which has such an impact on our community.
I also understand that there are many questions, much pain, and many people who want to know what happened. In order for all of us to gain clarity, the investigation is in the hands of the Landsrecherche under the leadership of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. They will ensure that the case is thoroughly investigated so that, ultimately, all parties involved can obtain clarity.
Because the investigation is being conducted by the Landsrecherche, all questions must be directed to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
This is not easy for us either, and I regret what has happened, both for the family of the victim and for the police officers who were involved.
I extend my condolences and strength to the family of the deceased. I also wish much strength to my colleagues who were involved, as this is not easy for them either during these moments. I will ensure that they receive the necessary support.
I have one message for our community: let us remain calm and allow the investigation, which is already underway, to follow its course.”
