Hendrik Tevreden, a parliamentarian of the Movimiento Electoral di Pueblo (MEP), expressed his dissatisfaction with the development of IPKO 2026, stating that the meeting did not fulfill its original purpose.
According to Tevreden, IPKO was created to debate critical issues facing the islands and to seek joint solutions. However, he pointed out that the 2026 edition focused more on presentations, leaving little room for in-depth debate and the formulation of concrete solutions.
The parliamentarian lamented that the content of IPKO has changed, which, according to Tevreden, causes the platform to lose its main value as a space for discussion and cooperation between the countries.
Regarding the HOFA situation, Tevreden indicated that the Raad van Advies (Advisory Council) has not yet issued its advice, which keeps the matter at a standstill. He criticized the handling by Geoffrey Wever, stating that the minister acted against the law and the Constitution of the Country of Aruba. Up to now, according to Tevreden, no cabinet member has publicly provided clarification on the issue.
