The Aruba Police Force (KPA), together with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, informs the community about the results of the inter-island illegal firearm surrender campaign for Aruba.
As previously announced, from March 24, 2026, until May 24, 2026, there was an opportunity to deposit illegal firearms, parts, or ammunition (live rounds) into the blue containers located in San Nicolas and Oranjestad.
During the aforementioned period, it was possible to hand these over anonymously and without the risk of criminal prosecution.
During the “Turn It In or We Will Come Get It” campaign, a total of 3 firearms and 359 live rounds were deposited in the blue containers.
The weapons included:
A 9mm Beretta
A Winchester 255
A Colt .38
The ammunition consisted of 5 rounds of 9mm, 332 rounds of .22 caliber, and 22 rounds of .38 caliber.
Regarding the fight against illegal firearm possession through police investigations, based on data from the Public Prosecutor’s Office from December 1, 2025, to May 29, 2026, the figures are as follows:
A total of 40 suspects were arrested.
13 firearms were confiscated, 2 of which were made with a 3D printer.
Of the 40 suspects, 9 have already received sentences. The remaining suspects are awaiting their day in court.
The Aruba Police Force and the Public Prosecutor’s Office emphasize that the time for voluntary firearm surrender has passed. Now, they will continue to strictly combat the illicit possession of firearms and move on to the next phase: “We are coming to get it.”
The KPA appeals to the community: if you know something or saw something, call the Police Tip Line at 11141. Your call remains completely anonymous.
You didn’t turn it in; now we are coming to get it.
