Member of Parliament Xiomara Maduro congratulates the Aruba Monuments Fund (MFA) on its 30th anniversary of existence, expressing her appreciation for the important work the foundation has done in preserving our cultural heritage.
Over the past 30 years, MFA has ensured the restoration, maintenance, and storytelling of 19 historical monuments. Among them are the California Lighthouse, Stadhuis (City Hall), School 1888, Weststraat 15, Steenweg 19, Cas Tan Tin, Cas Veneranda, Ecury Complex, Forno di Calki (Lime Kiln), and various other important symbols of our national history.
As former Minister of Culture, Maduro is pleased to have been able to contribute the necessary support to Monumentenfonds, allowing several monuments to be restored or receive their required maintenance so that their history remains alive within our community. “Every monument restored to its former glory tells us its story. Culture is something you have to live, and we must care for our monuments so they can continue to tell our story,” Maduro declared.
MP Xiomara Maduro thanks outgoing director Mrs. Anne Witsenburg for her dedication, extends a warm welcome, and wishes Mrs. Petra Davis much success as the new director of MFA.
Warm congratulations to Monumentenfonds Aruba, and thank you for 30 years of dedication to preserving our past for our future.
