On Saturday at approximately 6:45 a.m., the Police Central Dispatch received information that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian near the former Xavier University on Santa Helenastraat.
Police and ambulance services were dispatched to the scene with maximum urgency.
Upon arrival, the police patrol confirmed that a white Toyota Corolla had indeed struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian was in critical condition and unresponsive, and the driver had left the scene.
Ambulance personnel provided medical assistance to the female pedestrian, but unfortunately nothing more could be done, and the woman passed away at the scene.
Traffic specialists and forensic police officers arrived to conduct their investigation. The Victim Support Department was also present at the scene to provide assistance and support to the family.
The driver involved in the fatal accident later turned himself in to the police and was detained. The driver was tested and blew zero on the alcohol sensor machine.

Liris Aurelia Senior Barrios, born in Colombia on September 25, 1959 (66 years old).
This incident marks the fifth traffic fatality for the year 2026.
The police force extends its condolences to the family of the deceased.
